Hot springs in Churín

Churín is the capital of Pachangara, in Oyón, Lima. It sits on the left bank of the Huaura River, at 7,408 ft.

In the center

The Plaza de Armas and the municipal market are in the center. The center is walkable. Trout is on menus in town.

The private garage is free for guests. Check-out is until 11:00 a.m. Evenings are cooler at this altitude. Bring a light layer for the walk back.

From Lima

By car: Take the Panamericana Norte through Huacho and Sayán to Churín. The drive is about 4 hours. The hotel has free parking.

By bus: Buses to Churín leave from Plaza Norte in Lima.

The hot springs

Mamahuarmi and La Juventud are a few minutes from the hotel. The water runs from 95°F to 131°F. No single pool covers that whole range, so you can choose how hot you want it.

Mamahuarmi

A short walk before town, the pools are outdoors among eucalyptus and molle trees. The water is turquoise. Guests ask for the poza de los novios. The Velo de la Novia is a small waterfall you can stand under. La Mellicera is the quieter pool, set back from the others.

La Juventud

On the left as you come into town, a few minutes from the hotel. Share the large pools, or take a family pool. A strong jet works as a massage. Outside, the Poza de la Amistad and Poza Uchuj are open to the air.

Tingo

A little farther out, about 2.5 miles before town, past the Tingo bridge on the right bank of the Huaura. The spring leaves the rock at 131°F. The pools cool it to about 90°F to 97°F, a heat you can sit in. Take a private pool, the mud pool, or the one outdoors.
